Students love playing the role of Geologists
In Science, my students have said goodbye to the animals and have now become young Geologists. They are studying Rocks and Minerals.
Using ActivExpressions to Respond to Questions
My students are having a ball using the activExpressions to text answers to various questions presented to them from the Promethean board. Using them, they can text an answer, choose true or false, or choose 1 or more choices from a multiple choice question. They are engaged, focused, learning, and quiet as they enjoy using the ActivExpressions.

Ms. Sharice Visits Our Class
We had a special guest to visit our class on Oct. 12. Ms. Sharice from WSSU came to share a PowerPoint Presentation with the students. Her presentation was about her summer trip to Brazil. She taught the students a "How to," as in, how to present a PowerPoint presentation. The students learned a Brazilian dance, got to taste a piece of Hershey chocolate from Brazil. They also got to taste some red "strawberry like" sauce from Brazil. In the end, she took questions from the students about her trip and about college!
Animal Studies
We have begun our Animal Studies unit in Science. The frogs arrived and were warmly welcomed by the students. The students set up the frog habitats and are making observations about their frogs. The students also got to welcome in and observe crabs and millipedes.

Poetry Study
We are studying poetry in class. Ms. Watts (our 3-5 grade curriculum coordinator) came in today to teach a lesson on poetry. She recited a poem titled "Mother to Son" by Langston Hughes. She played the role of the mother; Irvin played the role of the son. She had the students to identify and discuss various poetry elements. The students loved her drama!
Longer School Days
President Obama wants YOU to attend school longer. He thinks that it will be beneficial (good) for you and our country.
What in the world do you think?
Do you think that it is a good idea or a bad idea? Why?
